About the Author
Jacqueline Jones is Truman Professor of American Civilization at Brandeis University. She is the author of "American Work" (1998), "The Dispossessed" (1993), "Labor of Love, Labor of Sorrow" (1986), winner of the Bancroft Prize in American History.
Peter H. Wood is history professor emeritus at Duke University and author of "Strange New Land: African Americans, 1526-1776", among others.
Thomas ("Tim") Borstelmann is the Elwood N. and Katherine Thompson Distinguished Professor of Modern World History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
REINHOLD WAGNLEITNER, Associate Professor of Modern History at the University of Salzburg and past President of the Austrian Association for American Studies, also played and sang in Austrian pop, rock, and jazz bands. The English translation of his Coca-Colonization and the Cold War (1994) won the Stuart L. Bernath Prize of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.
ELAINE TYLER MAY, Professor of American Studies and History at the University of Minnesota, was a recent President of the American Studies Association and a Fulbright Distinguished Professor of American History at University College Dublin, Ireland. Her books include Homeward Bound: American Families in the Cold War Era (revised edition, 2000), and Barren in the Promised Land: Childless Americans and the Pursuit of Happiness (1995).

Now Windows 8 compatible.

I had purchased this ebook so that I could used it on my computer, but when I tried to open it I was unable to because it was not compatible with Windows 8. I was not happy at all to find out about this, as I feel I wasted $50 for a book I can't even use for my class.

Good textbook for American History.

Good book for my History class. Its filled with a lot of information but still lacks some depth about many events that occured in American History.
I was able to download the kindle version of this book for my Windows 8.1. In order to use it in Windows 8.1 you download the Kindle reader program installer and not the App from the Microsoft Store. The app wil just tell you the book is not supported.
